My journey into UI/UX design is a story of gradual evolution, driven by a constant fascination with how people interact with both the physical and digital world. This journey began over 14 years ago when I found myself drawn to the creative problem-solving aspects of graphic design.
Fascination with Creative Problem-Solving
It all started when I discovered the joy of graphic design. The satisfaction of turning ideas into visual designs was thrilling. However, the more I delved into the realm of design, the more I realized that while I enjoyed crafting visually appealing interfaces, I craved a deeper understanding of how users interact with and experience these interfaces. This curiosity was the catalyst that led me to explore the field of user experience (UX) design.
Exploring the Realm of User Experience Design
This hunger for knowledge propelled me to consume everything I could about UX design. I devoured books, articles, and online tutorials, eager to unlock the secrets of designing interfaces that are not only visually pleasing but also intuitive and user-centric. This self-directed learning and experimentation with different design solutions laid the foundational skills for my UX design career.
Putting Knowledge into Practice
As my passion for UX design grew, I sought opportunities to apply my newfound knowledge in the real world. I started by taking on freelance projects and participating in design challenges. These experiences allowed me to gain hands-on experience, refine my skills, and build a portfolio that showcased my abilities. This practical experience was invaluable in establishing myself as a UX/UI designer.
An Internship and a Breakthrough
During a lockdown, I secured a work-from-home internship at Times Internet as a Product Management Intern. Despite the opportunity to work in development, I found it unenjoyable. This experience heightened my determination to discover a field where creativity blended with technology.
In my search for a career that aligned with my interests, I stumbled upon the world of UI/UX design. I decided to teach myself through online resources such as YouTube and later enrolled in a UI/UX course at Felix IT. This journey of self-learning and structured training was instrumental in securing a position as a UI/UX Designer in the IT sector.
A Passion of 14 Years
Even after 14 years in the field, my passion for UI/UX design remains undiminished. I find immense satisfaction in the process of understanding user needs, translating them into design solutions, and witnessing the positive impact those solutions have on user experience. This is a journey of continuous learning, exploration, and creation that I love to call my calling.
