How to Stream Phone Files to a Mi TV Using a Pen Drive

WiFi streaming is becoming more common, but sometimes an alternative connection method is needed. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of connecting your phone to your Mi TV using a USB pen drive, an OTG adapter, and some simple steps.

Requirements

USB Pen Drive: Ensure that it is formatted in FAT32 or exFAT format for compatibility with your devices. OTG Adapter: If your phone supports USB On-The-Go (OTG), an OTG adapter will allow you to connect the pen drive to your phone. Mi TV: Make sure your Mi TV is powered on and accessible via USB.

Steps to Connect

To transfer files from your phone to your Mi TV, follow these steps:

Transfer Files to Pen Drive

Connect the pen drive to your computer. Copy the files (photos, videos, etc.) you want to view on your Mi TV onto the pen drive. Safely eject the pen drive from your computer.

Connect Pen Drive to Mi TV

Insert the pen drive into one of the USB ports on your Mi TV. Turn on your Mi TV and navigate to the File Manager or Media Player app using the remote control. Select the pen drive from the list of available storage devices. Browse through the files and select the one you want to view.

Using Your Phone (Optional)

If you want to send files directly from your phone to the pen drive, connect the pen drive to your phone using the OTG adapter. Use a file manager app on your phone to copy files from your phone to the pen drive. Once done, safely eject the pen drive and connect it to your Mi TV as described above.

Note

If both your phone and Mi TV support technologies like Miracast or Chromecast, you might consider using those features for a more seamless connection without needing a pen drive. However, in scenarios where you need to physically transfer files from your phone to the TV, this method is reliable.

By using a USB pen drive, you can effectively view content from your phone on your Mi TV, making it a convenient solution for many users.
