How to Manage Your Instagram Highlight Cover Photos

How to Manage Your Instagram Highlight Cover Photos

Managing your Instagram content can be quite a task, especially when it comes to your Highlights. Here, we address common issues related to cover photos in your Highlights and provide solutions to help streamline your Instagram experience. Whether you want to delete a cover photo from your Highlights slideshow or keep it as the main cover, we'll guide you through the steps.

Removing a Cover Photo from Highlights Without Losing It

If you want to remove a cover photo from your Highlights slideshow but keep it available, there isn't a direct way to do this. However, you can achieve a similar effect by creating a new Highlight and adding the desired posts without including the cover photo. Here's how:

Create a New Highlight:

If you wish to keep the cover photo but not display it in the slideshow, consider creating a new Highlight and adding the posts you want to keep without including the cover photo.

Manage the Content:

Follow the steps to make a new Highlight and add the relevant content. This approach helps keep your highlight clean and attractive without needing to change the original cover photo.

Removing the Story from Highlights

If you want to remove a specific story from your Highlights but keep it as the cover, you can do so by editing the Highlight. Here’s how:

Access the Highlight:

Go to the Highlight that currently includes the cover photo. Tap on the Highlight to open it.

Delete the Story:

Once in the Highlight, you can remove the specific story or photo you no longer want to appear in the Highlight but keep it as the cover. Instagram allows you to rearrange and edit the content within the Highlight.

Changing the Cover Photo

If you want to keep your slideshow clean but still have a cover photo, you can change the cover photo to something else you prefer. Unfortunately, Instagram does not allow you to have a cover photo that is not included in the slideshow of that Highlight. If you want the cover photo to be different from the content, you’ll need to adjust the Highlight accordingly.

Creating and Sharing Highlights

Now, let's discuss the process of creating and sharing Highlights. When you save your Insta Stories in your Highlight, Instagram randomly selects a photo and turns it into a cover. This can be aesthetically unappealing, leading many Instagrammers to create custom covers to maintain the visual appeal of their feed. However, there can be some complications:

Custom Cover Design:

Insta Stories highlights appear at the bottom of your Instagram bio, and you can create a Highlight about various themes, such as a trip to Hawaii. Instagrammers were quick to design aesthetically pleasing covers to match their feed. This ensures that the cover looks good with the rest of their content.

Routine for Cover Changes:

You can share your Insta Stories as usual, and they will disappear after 24 hours. If you want to save them, create a Highlight and add the relevant content. When setting a cover, Instagram requires you to share the cover in a story before it can be applied to the Highlight. This means you can't set a cover directly from your camera roll whenever you feel like it. However, managing and sharing your covers in this way ensures a consistent and polished look for your Instagram content.
